This tour combines a discovery of the scenic route of the Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest canyons in the world, and an exploration with your own vehicle to the famous Kruger Park. Your tour ends with full board in a private reserve to enjoy open 4x4 safari accompanied by specialist guides of the reserve. Day 1: Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport - White River

Reception and assistance at Johannesburg International airport by our representative.



You collect your rental vehicle at the airport. Road to the Mpumalanga region that marks the boundary between the highlands and the "Lowveld", hotter region where a large number of wild animals has settled. Estimated travel time: 4 hours.


Included : reception with english-speaking guide, car rental

Day 2: Blyde River Canyon

Day dedicated to the discovery of the Blyde River Canyon along the scenic route R532.

Suggestions: Go to the following sites for the best views of the canyon:

- God's Window, the "Window of God" which offers magnificent views across the Lower Veld,
- The Three Rondavels that resemble three typical African huts,
- Bourke's Luck Potholes and rock formations shaped pot created by erosion,
- Waterfalls Lisbon and Berlin,

Visit the mining town of Pilgrim's Rest where gold prospecting was in full swing during one century to the early 1970s.

Visit the Mac Mac Pools, natural pools in a forest setting where it is possible to do a little walking tour.

Day 3: White River - Kruger National Park

Road to Skukuza in the Kruger National Park and safari with your own vehicle in the footsteps of the "Big Five". Estimated travel time: 2 hours.

Kruger Park, with an area of nearly 2 million hectares, is the country's largest national park. Its great geological and climatic diversity gives its exceptional flora divided into 16 distinct vegetation areas. The park is not only home to the Big Five (buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard and rhino) but also giraffes, hippos, hyenas, wild dogs, many species of antelope and many other animals. Essential experience for wildlife & safari lovers, it offers a unique opportunity to approach and photograph these iconic and rare animals. Optional: 4x4 guided safaris in the morning, afternoon, evening and guided walks in the morning.

Day 4: Kruger National Park

Day at leisure to enjoy a self-drive safari to explore the parc and the wildlife it has to offer.

Undoubtedly the best way to experience the Kruger Park is behind your own steering weel. A Kruger Park self-drive safari gives you the freedom to plan for your own interests and move at your own pace. The southern part of the park along the Sabie and Crocodile River is rich in water and has a lot of game viewing opportunities. Here you can see the best of African flora and fauna such as Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Rhinos, and Buffalos often referred as the Big Five, but there are plenty of others to see as well. Driving around the Sabie River will always result in seeing some interesting animals. The vegetation around the Sabie River can be very dense forest and thicket and it gets a little bit more open driving down south to the Crocodile River. To maximise the Kruger experience one must consciously slow down and breath deeply.

4x4 game drives and walking safaris are optional and can be booked directly in the park.

Day 7: Kruger National Park - Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

You leave the Kruger National Park for the Timbavati Game Reserve.

The Timbavati private nature reserve shares a common unfenced border with the Kruger National Park allowing animals to roam freely between the park and the reserve, and ensuring guests the opportunity to view the greatest diversity of wildlife that Africa has to offer. Situated next to the Kruger National Park, the reserve is also home to a dozen of South Africa’s best luxury game lodges. The reserve is famous for the sporadic sighting of rare white lions.

Satara Rest Camp   Kruger National Park

Located between the Sabie and Olifants rivers in the heart of the Kruger Park, the camp is located in an environment dominated by acacias and Marula trees. The rich fauna is distinguished by the highest concentration of lions in the park, attracted by the herds of wildebeest and zebras. Restaurant and swimming pool on site.

Shindzela Tented Camp   Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Shindzela Tented Safari Camp, is situated within the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Shindzela Tented Camp is a simple but comfortable South African bush camp, offering an authentic African safari experience in an unfenced, natural wilderness environment. The camp offer comfortable safari accommodation in a canvas tent: Each tent has a wooden entrance door, adjustable canvas flaps for windows, and mesh to keep insects out. All tents have a thatch (grass) roof and porch, designed to cool the tents in summer and keep warm in winter. Tents are equipped with 2 x 3/4 beds, solar lighting, all bedding, and towels, private en-suite bathroom with shower, hand basin and flush toilet. In summer, mosquito nets are fitted above the beds.
